Rich Lunak has distinguished himself as a successful entrepreneur, healthcare executive, and investor. Rich Lunak is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Riverfront Ventures, an early-stage venture fund headquartered in southwestern PA. He also served as the President & CEO of Innovation Works, one of the nation’s most active early-stage technology investors, where he managed their efforts to support high-growth startups and several nationally ranked accelerator programs.
Earlier in his career, Rich was a successful technology entrepreneur/inventor who helped build one of Pittsburgh’s most successful and enduring technology companies. He helped lead Automated Healthcare, a healthcare robotics and IT company, from a start-up to a successful acquisition by McKesson Corporation. At McKesson, Rich was the architect of several disruptive digital health strategies that helped McKesson launch businesses that became market leaders in their respective segments. Rich’s success led him to being the youngest executive on McKesson’s Corporate Operating Team. As Group President, McKesson Automation, Rich led five autonomous business units that served more than 13,000 customers, generated hundreds of million in revenues, and managed more than 1,800 employees with operations in four states. He was responsible for all aspects of the businesses, including acquisitions, sales, marketing, R&D, manufacturing and service. Under Rich’s leadership, McKesson Automation revenues grew at a CAGR of 35% and developed breakthrough products served a variety of markets including acute care, retail, mail order, PBMs, and other healthcare markets.
A technologist as well as an entrepreneur, Rich Lunak received a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, and holds several U.S. patents. He is a winner of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Pittsburgh Venture Capital Association Lifetime Achievement Award, Pittsburgh Business Times Inno Fire Career Achievement Award, Carnegie Science Center Entrepreneur Award, and Junior Achievement Entrepreneurial Achievement Award. Rich Lunak has also served as a board member to some of the nation’s top healthcare technology companies.
